What are the responsibilities of a web developer

The job of a web developer is to create and maintain websites, with the customer and the consumer in mind. This means that the final design should contain the products/services offered, and indicate how to access them. For example, a customer might need a form to get a visitor’s email address so they can get more information, give a newsletter, or thank the customer for doing business with them.

Backend developer is one of the types that focus on creating the backend of the website. Another type, front end developer, focuses on the client side to give more elegance and functionality to the site.

Typically, the work focuses heavily on each project, which includes working with a team that helps coordinate client requirements with the final product. The work might include meetings with clients to discuss what they want and need for their website, or how to keep it up to date and running efficiently.

Generally, web developers build a website layout, create a visually appealing homepage, user-friendly design and, at times, useful content for visitors. Once the website is activated, the developer sees that the website works fine on all browsers, regardless of screen size/resolution by testing and revising when necessary.

Web developers know a lot about technology and the way computers and web servers work. They are experienced in most software and web applications, as well as web programming languages such as JavaScript (JS), HTML, C++, and Ruby on Rails. They must be able to communicate well, set goals, and meet target dates.

Types of web developers:

front end developers

This type of web developer stands for the front end of the site. Web design refers to the look of a website, but front end development is the means by which this design is implemented on the web.

Background developers

These web developers build and maintain the technology required to power components, in order to enable a user-facing presence on the site. The back end code gives functionality to everything generated by the front end designer.

Full Stack Developers

These developers know how all parts of the web development process go together, and can guide when it comes to strategies and best practices. Full stack developers will have a more important role in the future of web development, and have the ability to look at the ‘big picture’. They are familiar with both the server and client side user experience.

Java Script (JS) developers

JavaScript is a web programming language used by most websites and supported by every browser and tool. This type of language gives JS developers the ability to create, modify, and improve websites. Although the JS developer often works on the front end, the JS programming language is not limited to using the front end only.
